Italy; there are, however, many places
which I either was unable to visit, or in
which my stay was too short to obtain
much information; however, the fol-
lowing particulars seem worthy of being
mentioned; at Loretto there is a consi-
derable music school; at Siena there are
curious missals: at Pisa, music is in a flou-
rishing state, as I was informed upon the
spot by Signor Lidarti, who lives there;
Signor Gualberto Brunetti is Maestro
di Capella
at the cathedral; and Gerar
deschi, Renzini, Lidarti, and Corrucci,
are eminent composers in that city.

At Perugia Signor Zanetti has long
resided: but he lost his place of Ma-
estro di Capella
to the great church there,
lately, by having appeared on the Ali-
berti stage at Rome, as a singer in an ope-
ra of his own composition, and that,
merely to supply the place of the princi-
pal tenor, who had run away, and to
prevent the piece from being stopt; he
